I could be far more effective if more people actually took the time to read what I write, but not enough people realize I might know more about things than they have considered. They do not have time for me. That is going to be okay. I have enough social security income to keep a roof over my head and food on the table. It is just enough, not more, but it is enough.
It will probably not do much good, but I will try to explain about the broken clock. There is a saying that "A broken clock is right twice a day." That means a clock that does not run at all and is stopped at some time, for example 9:17, will be right twice a day at 9:17, or whatever time the broken clock is stopped on.
Donald Trump has never been especially talented. However, since entering politics in about 2015 he has been very wrong about most things. It might happen at times that some people succeed on their good looks or the money their family has. That might well be the story of Donald Trump's life.
So far Trump has only been "right" about one thing, that is "right" in a manner of speaking anyway. Depending on how the Supreme Court rules Trump might have something else to brag about soon.
The first thing Trump did "right" is criticize the uproar over covid. The response to covid was wildly inordinate because too many people did not understand what was actually happening with the death rate. The death rate was indeed rising from 2013 on, but that was only because for a few decades before that the death rate had dropped. People were living longer because of improvements in medical procedures and knowledge. The rate of improvements eventually slowed. The people who had been living longer could not live forever, eventually they had to die. If they happened to have any flu when they died the blame was put on anti-vaxxers. More reasonable people tried to explain about comorbidity. Since then Trump has backed off and let RFK jr. do the criticism of science. When you turn on your TV you probably will not see anyone in the Trump base or any "Christians" making the correct arguments about what actually happened. You might even see people in the CDC totally unapologetic for the fiasco covid was.
The next thing that might go right for "Trump" is the Supreme Court reversing itself on homosexual marriage. The people who voted for him will probably take all the credit. After the Supreme Court first allowed homosexual "marriage" I wrote that the real problem is because of "no fault" divorce laws taking over the country the meaning of marriage had become lost. When heterosexual marriage means so little then it can be said that homosexual marriages mean the "same" thing (or nothing). I still believe that is true. I suppose it would be great if the Supreme Court reversed itself said that heterosexual marriage is somehow special. I hope they do. Maybe after some time it will become true. That didn't work before, but who knows what might work now?
Making matters much worse of course is that it can appear that marriage never meant very much to Donald Trump. I try my best to avoid judging the man. I can understand "live and let live," but why did you have make him president? How could that save marriage?
I believe I know what went wrong. The wrong people are turning at the wrong time to government to win their arguments. Government does have the unique ability to use force, but it should only do that after more civilized means of persuasion have failed. The way the Trump base works is to depend on the force of government to the exclusion of other means of persuasion. Killing people or ordering them around is the only thing they know. They do not understand the world well enough to explain how it should work to others. Even if it turns out they were "right" twice, they still do not appear to understand why.
One way to reduce illegal immigration is to take a job picking berries yourself. That could mean one less illegal immigrant. The truth is that the first step in the best solution to any problem is understanding what caused it. The probable reason for most illegal immigration is that immigrants are taking jobs the people who live here do not want.
Probably the best way to inspire other people to live right is to live right yourselves. Then others can say, "Look how that works for them!" The Trump base is coming up a bit short there, so they have to start waving their guns. Before they start killing they blame the other side for starting the killing as in the Middle East. Some try to put all the blame on Israel, others try to put all the blame on Hamas. The truth is they have been killing each other for a very long time. Maybe they should try living right. Israel and Palestine have differing views on homosexuality. Muslims typically do not abide homosexuality at all. So who is being the example to whom?
When they have no other means of persuasion than fighting, When they do not understand anything well enough to explain it to anyone else, that is the foremost problem. It explains why the Trump base might appear to get anything right ever.
